Our Space

Staffed by highly regarded and experienced teachers, our English Department is both dynamic and very well resourced. All classrooms have wireless Internet and access to a significant number of laptop computers. In early 2011, we will commission our own mini lab located in the English block that contains an extra 32 computers for use by our students. We also have three smartboards that our staff and students can access.

A unique feature of our English block is the large central area that all six classrooms have direct access to via internal connecting doors. This is a perfect place for small or large group work and this space is well lit by natural light. Three of our classrooms face natural bushland making our learning environment a very pleasant place to discover the wonders of the English language.

Our Focus

All students from Years 8 - 12 focus on the key areas of Reading, Speaking and Listening, Writing and Viewing. We offer separate boys and girls classes in Year 10 and are always looking for new ways to be innovative and engage our students. Formal examinations are undertaken in Year 10 and these results, along with class work, are used to council students into the appropriate Upper School (Year 11 and 12) Courses of Study.

In 2011 our staff will prepare students for implementation of the new Australian Curriculum. Year 8 students will be undertaking course work, as outlined in the draft documents, currently being trialed by a select number of schools across Australia.
