The Design and Technology facilities at Leeming Senior High School are well established and well managed. All workshop areas have wireless connection to the internet. They consist of:
Woodwork – two fully equipped workshops with a full complement of hand tools and machinery including panel saws, lathes, sanders and spray booth.
Metalwork – two fully equipped workshops including lathes, mill, drills, hydraulic guillotine, MIG TIG and oxy-acetylene welding, panbrake and electromagnetic benders.
Automotive Workshop – comprehensive automotive tooling. MIG and gas welding, plasma cutting, vehicle hoist, tyre changing and wheel balancing equipment.
Photography – set up for all aspects of digital photography. Apple computers using Photoshop software.
Technical Graphics – technical drawing studio that caters for both pencil drafting and digital drafting using Autocad and Google Sketch up.
Light Automotive Trade Training Centre – the centre allows students to gain TAFE automotive qualifications on site, using state-of-the-art equipment including comprehensive automotive tooling, MIG and gas welding, multiple vehicle hoists and plasma cutting.
The courses offered in Lower School are comprehensive and offer a curriculum that develops many skills across a wide range of content areas. These include Woodwork, Metalwork, Photography, Technical Graphics, Computer Aided Drawing, Automotive and Jewellery courses.
The Lower School courses develop the students’ knowledge and skills for their entry into Senior School courses that prepare the students for further education or the workforce. These include General and Certificate courses covering content areas including Automotive, Photography, Technical Graphics, Woodwork and Metalwork courses.
