Secondary Assistance Scheme is provided by the Western Australian
Department of Education and Training. This allowance is to assist
eligible families with secondary schooling costs. To be eligible
for the allowance the parent/guardian must hold a Centrelink
or Veteran’s Affairs card that represents a statement of
income for the family. The allowance is paid up to and including
the year the student turns 16 years of age. Students who turn
17 during the year are ineligible, but they may be eligible to
receive Austudy though Centrelink.
The allowance paid directly to the school is $235 which reduces
the contributions of Year 8 to 10 students and the charges of Year
12 Students.
A Clothing Allowance of $115 is paid directly to the parent, unless
the parent directs this to be paid to the school.
To Make a claim you must fill in a application which is available
at the school by the last day of school in Term 1. If you have
not lodged an application by then, you will not be eligible. (Forms
will be available at the school in December for the following year.)
Information brochures about Austudy are available from Centrelink.
