Be Involved
The school encourages parents to be involved actively in their children's
education and in the school generally, as it believes strongly that
such involvement enhances student learning. For this reason it places
great importance on the establishment and maintenance of effective
channels of communication with parents and the wider community.
Parent Involvement
The school welcomes the opportunity to communicate with parents.
This may be achieved in a number of ways:
Daily Notices
Each day information for students is provided in the daily notices.
Sporting team notices, TAG events, Year Assemblies are just some
of the events regularly included in the daily notices.
Assemblies
Whole-school assemblies are held once a term in the gymnasium. Parents
are welcome. The dates for the assemblies are published on the school
calendar.
School Calendar
A comprehensive calendar is issued to parents and students early
in Term 1, and is also available on the web site here.
It contains the dates of significant events to be held during the
year. School camps, exam times, report distribution dates, school
development days, staff meetings and parent/teacher evenings are
just some of the dates recorded.
Newsletters
School newsletters are distributed to students to take home to
parents. The newsletters contain details of school activities,
significant
dates and other aspects of school life. Usually the school newsletter
is published fortnightly. To view current and past newsletters click

Student Diary
Every student is expected to purchase a diary. This is used to record
homework details but may also be used by teachers and parents to
communicate with each other.
Contact With Teachers
If you wish to have an appointment please contact the school office.
We encourage all parents to keep in regular contact with the school.
When parents contact the school, it is quite possible that the staff
member that you wish to speak to is teaching. In this circumstance
the school will ensure that the staff member rings you back at the
earliest opportunity.
Parent Teacher Evenings
Parent-teacher evenings, as indicated on the school calendar, are
held to discuss matters related to the students' progress at school
or to provide information to parents.
Phone Calls
Parents are welcome to contact the school to discuss any matters
of concern. If a particular teacher is not available, a message
will be taken and the parents will be contacted as soon as possible.
Personal Interviews
Parents are encouraged to make frequent contact with teachers. Interviews
are easily arranged. The school receptionist will pass on requests
to the appropriate teacher, who will then arrange a convenient time
for the interview. Several days' notice is usually necessary.
Specific Purpose Notices
These are issued occasionally to inform parents about specific events.
Publications
The school produces a number of brochures, including brochures on
course selection.
Local Media
The local paper will often contain details and pictures of special
events held at the school. Success of our students in sport, academic
achievements and community involvement is also submitted to the
local media for publication.
Reports
Reports will be sent home with students on the dates specified in
the school calendar. Students in all years will receive a report
for each semester. Where it is considered appropriate an Interim
Report may be issued to parents at any time during the year. Parents
may also request an Interim Report on their child's progress. During
Term 1 all students will receive an interim report which gives parents
an indication of their students' progress.
Messages to Students
Parents are requested not to ask the office staff to pass messages
to students, unless they are of an urgent and serious nature.
Maintenance of Information
It is important that the school be notified promptly of any change
of address, change of telephone number and the like. Up-to-date
information contributes to effective.
