We invite primary school students as early as Years Five and Six to the school to participate in lessons that give them a taste for all that high school has to offer. It has proven to be a very positive experience for all concerned and provides the students with a sense of direction. It is also a lot of fun!

We encourage open communication between our teachers and those teachers in the local primary schools. Visits between schools are conducted to ensure that high school teachers are aware of prior learning and can program accordingly.

Our SAER (Student at Educational Risk) coordinator and Year Eight coordinator visit schools to discuss the individual requirements of each students and ensure that their teachers in Year Eight are aware of their educational requirements but also their achievements.

Parents of Year Sevens are invited to the school for orientation days and parent information evenings to ensure they are aware of the procedures within the school and the staff and facilities available.

At the end of the school year all the students enrolled at Leeming are invited to the school for an orientation day when they are shown around the school, made aware of the people and places who will be important in their school routine and generally enjoy a fun day full of variety. It is important that students attend this day as important information will be given and it really does put the students at ease with the forthcoming school year.

Leeming Senior High School prides itself on providing a transition program that is both useful and rewarding for the students approaching high school and will continue to place great importance on this transition process as part of the school's policy.
